Eachine Airloader 1280mm Wingspan VTOL

I ordered this aircraft knowing I will complete it as VTOL project when INAV did not included such capabilities. Fortunately –  thanks to INAV developers – it`s possible now to operate VTOL in INAV.

Please note, that this is my first VTOL project, so this will cover just basic features of my build. At the end You can find also INAV diff- all file and OTX model files.

Basic info.

Aircraft: Eachine Airloader 1280mm Wingspan kit

Motors: IFlight XING-E Pro 2207 1800KV

Motor gimbals servos: GX1306MG 17g servos


Propellers: Gemfan Hurricane 7035 7X3.5X3 3-Blade

Motors gimbals ball- bearings: 685 2Z EZO, 11x5x5 mm

Flight controller: MATEKSYS F405-WMN + DIY extension board for servos 7 – 11

Magnetometer: GY-273 QMC5883L Module Triple Axis Compass Magnetometer

RC: MATEKSYS ELRS-R24-D receiver

FPV: Walksnail Avatar HD Micro Kit + 3D printed holder

Servos: PTK 7455 ( excluding elevator servo I don`t know what servo I have on elevator )

Battery: ZOP Power 14.8V 4500mAh 4S 45C Lipo Battery or DIY 4S 4000mAH battery ( Molicel INR21700-P42A 4000mAh – 45A )

Motor gimbals.

Are printed from PET-G filament, I don`t remember infill density ( 50% ??? ).

Motors are mounted to AirLoader_VTOL_0106b.stl with original screws.

Servo and ball bearings are installed on AirLoader_VTOL_0205b.FCStd part.

Both parts are fixed together with AirLoader_VTOL_0604.FCStd part – please note, You must glue carbon shaft 2mm diameter inside.  Servo arm is fixed with screw to AirLoader_VTOL_0106b.stlPart AirLoader_VTOL_0302b.FCStd  + carbon tube 10x8mm + glue + screws are used to to connect 3D printed motor gimbals with original motor mounts.

At the beginning I wanted to modify also AirLoader`s tail and use two carbon tubes – that`s the purpose of “ side tube holder “ on the right of the picture.

Tail motor holder.

For tail motor are used are used AirLoader_VTOL_0401.stl and AirLoader_VTOL_0501.stl parts. After motor is installed using original screws to upper part, both parts are completed using 2 pcs of M3x20mm screws.

SkyUnit FPV holder

I used my own design. Please not it`s v1 of Walksnail Avatar Sky Unit, on thingiverse.com I uploaded also the same holder for present Walksnail Avatar HD Pro Kit (Dual Antennas Version).

Magnetometer + GPS

I used BN 220 as GPS unit + GY-273 QMC5883L Module Triple Axis Compass Magnetometer. For VTOL compass must be used.

INAV and TX16S configuration.

I configured INAV with the help of INAV developers on FB. Basic print screens:

Tail esc must be calibrated, it operates only from 1500us – 2000us.

I`m flying in ANGLE mode, mainly take- off and landing, in ACRO aircraft is oscillating at yaw axis – probably it is necessary to set-up P gain, but had no time yet 😉
